Nine more people were arrested in Dundee on Tuesday as part of a series of coordinated drug raids which began on Monday.
More than 100 officers were out for the second day of Operation Fundamental, launched as part of the effort to tackle the city’s disproportionately high number of drug deaths.
Since Monday, 19 people have been arrested, with a total of 27 warrants executed.
Quantities of controlled drugs including heroin, cocaine and diazepam have been recovered and £20,000 cash has been seized.
Chief Superintendent Andrew Todd, divisional commander for Tayside, said: “Today (Tuesday) we have continued with enforcement action to target those involved in drug dealing as there will be no let up in the fight against drugs in Dundee.
“A number of addresses have been targeted again in the city to disrupt the supply of drugs into our communities.
“Dealing with those who are involved in drug dealing and abuse is not just about police enforcement – we work closely with other organisations including health, social work and housing partners, who provide support services to those individuals who require it.”
The operation has been described by police as “unique” as information has been shared with the city’s integrated substance misuse service, as well as the council’s children and families social work and neighbourhood services.
This, they say, has allowed them to offer support to “vulnerable individuals” who may become known during the course of the operation.
