A Dundee taxi driver who publicly sought out partners for sex in his cab has reportedly fled the city.

The council’s licensing committee held a private meeting on Thursday to discuss whether the man’s licence should be permanently removed and it is believed he did not attend.

The council immediately suspended the 52-year-old male driver in November after it was revealed in The Courier he had used dating site FabGuys.com to advertise for sex in his vehicle.

The advert, which has since been taken down, said he “could always be found” by one of the city’s busiest taxi ranks at Dundee Railway Station and included naked pictures of himself posing with his registered taxi badge.

The driver, referred to in licensing committee papers as JE, operated an account on the website under the username taximan2 and said he prefers “quick meets either outdoor or in my taxi”.

It was accompanied by a list of the sexual activities he enjoys and offered up his taxi or his home as locations for the encounters.

When approached for comment previously via the number given in the profile, the driver said he had “no idea” about the website, adding that the conversation was “disgusting”.

He then hung up when asked if he denied having anything to do with the FabGuys post.

The Courier has since unsuccessfully attempted to contact the driver on numerous occasions through the same mobile number.

Councillor Stewart Hunter, convener of the licensing board, said he could not legally disclose whether or not the driver in question has been permanently stripped of his licence.

The council had passed on information to police when it temporarily suspended his licence but it is understood the force dropped the case after officers could not prove he had committed a criminal offence.

A source said that given the nature of the supposed meetings and that they may also have taken place at his home, it would be difficult to prove any wrongdoing.
