A man was seen sprinting away from police officers on one of Dundee’s busiest roads on Friday night.
The officers were seen chasing the male westwards along Lochee Road near Dudhope Park at around 5pm.
Naeem Bhatti, 43, who runs Dundee Computer Care, said he was alarmed by shouting outside his shop at around 5.20pm.
He said: “I heard shouting so I looked out my window and saw a load of police officers chasing a man with a backpack.
“It was quite scary actually.
“They were giving each other directions on where the guy had ran to.
“I really don’t think it was a theft. It seems like something really big.
“I don’t know if they caught him.
“Afterwards, there was around three or four police cars parked outside my shop.”
Mr Bhatti added: “I have not seen this kind of incident before.
“There was a drug bust a few months ago nearby but I didn’t see this much police.
“For this many officers, I think it’s serious.”
Additional police began arriving on the scene after the chase with a total of seven vehicles parked up on Lochee Road and Cleghorn Street.
It is believed at least one male is in custody.
A police spokesperson said she could not give any information on the nature of the incident.
