A Dundee children’s project has created a canine calendar to raise cash for Christmas presents for disadvantaged children.
The Dundee Toy Appeal, organised by the council’s Discover Work Service, has compiled the hilarious collection of pooch pictures from across the city.
Each month has a different theme, including seasonal elements such as dogs on the beach for the summer months.
The photographs for the calendar were shot in “record time” by photographer Karen Jackson, who has been working in the City of Discovery since 2007.
She said: “I was asked to do this by the team at Dundee Toy Appeal in November, who had some young people who wanted to get involved.
“The young people helped to come up with the themes, and then I put out an appeal online for people to lend their dogs.
“I had a really good response, some dog trainers and the police as well, offered their dogs.
“It was chaos, trying to get them all to pose for the photos. We used treats and toys to keep their attention but even then, we had to do a bit of Photoshopping.”
The Dundee Toy Appeal has been running since 2013, delivering gifts to the city’s children and teenagers in need.
The idea for the calendar came from dog lover Nicola McPhail, from Discovery Work.
A few months ago she set up a dog meet, where council workers, friends and members of the public meet up to walk their dogs together.
Nicola said: “The idea of the calendar evolved from that.
“Some of the dogs we used belong to the people from the dog meet.
“Our young people came up with lots of ideas and made the costumes for the dogs.”
Discovery Work Service’s team leader Kiley West added that in total there were 500 calendars, priced at £4 each.
They can be picked up from 24 Castle Street, or to arrange a delivery, call Nicola on 01382434490.
