A young man was left bleeding with head injuries after a large-scale incident in Dundee last night.
Three police vans, seven police cars and two ambulances surrounded the railway station after the alarm was raised just before 5.45pm.
The man who suffered the head injury after allegedly being set upon by a group of people ran into a nearby pub to seek refuge.
Police received a number of 999 calls when the fight broke out, with reports of as many as 30 people involved.
The group of males who allegedly attacked the victim are understood to have run off after officers arrived.
Police maintained a highly visible presence in the area throughout the evening while officers were also looking at CCTV footage from the station.
Shocked pub-goers in the Club Bar helped the injured man when he ran into the pub with blood streaming down his face.
One witness said: “I went out for a cigarette and there were 30 people kicking this one lad.
“It wasn’t fair. He ran in the pub with blood dripping from his nose. They helped him inside and he got cleaned up. I think he might have broken his nose.
“The ambulance pulled up outside and he was checked over.
“The group who attacked him ran off – they could be anywhere now.”
Police confirmed they had received reports of a “large-scale disturbance”.
A spokesman said: “A single male has suffered a head injury and ambulances are in attendance.
“Officers would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the incident and are asked to phone Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3140 of the 21st December 2018 or speak with any police officer.”
