Still Game’s chatterbox Isa and miserly Tam visited Dundee this week before their upcoming Burns supper appearance in the city.
The duo, whose real names are Jane McCarry and Mark Cox, will be joined by Taggart’s Colin McCredie for That’s Plenty Rabbie, an evening of food, music and poetry at the Invercarse Hotel on January 24.
The actors will bring a witty slant on the Immortal Memory, the Toast to the Lassies and the Reply at the event, which includes a four course meal and complementary whisky.
Proceeds from the evening will help to support The Archie Foundation, the official charity of Tayside Children’s Hospital.
During their visit to DC Thomson on Monday, Mark and Jane reminisced about their time working on the hit TV show, as well as Mark’s time working in the city’s Rep theatre in the 1990s.
Mark said: “I’m looking forward to coming up on January 24.
“It’s going to be a bit lively – it should be fun, that’s the main part of a Burn’s supper.
“I love coming to Dundee, it’s one of my favourite cities.
“I’ve always loved the atmosphere. I came here for my second job from drama college – I worked in the Rep, years ago. I always come back with my kids, every year.”
Jane added: “You’re really welcomed when you come to Dundee, so we’re really excited.
“It (the event) is a modern twist on a Burns supper. It’s good fun, it’s light-hearted, and there will be good grub as well.
“We always say that if Rabbie Burns came to a Burns supper…some of the Burns suppers we’ve gone to, he’d have been the first to leave.
“So we’ve tried to make it something that actually, if Robert Burns was there, he would enjoy.”
Mark and Jane remained tight lipped about the specifics of the final series of Still Game, which will be shown on the BBC in February.
However, Jane admitted she “shed a wee tear” while filming the final episodes.
Mark added: “There’s some great storylines this year and some really good guest appearances.”
