UPDATE: Grant McNamara was traced and arrested on January 16.
The public has been warned not to approach a prisoner who has gone missing from Castle Huntly, near Dundee.
Police say Grant McNamara, 26, was reported missing at 2pm on Monday.
In a public appeal issued by the force more than 10 hours later, they said: “If seen, members of the public should not approach him and should contact Police Scotland on 101 or 999.”
The statement continued: “It is believed that he has connections in the Paisley area.
“He is described as being 6ft 2”, medium build, clean shaven with short brown hair.
“Anyone wishing to provide information anonymously can do so through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
