Dundee’s second Nando’s outlet is due to open at the end of this month, it has been revealed.
The peri-peri chicken specialist will open at Camperdown Leisure Park in the next few weeks.
It will replace the Indian restaurant Ashoka Shak on Dayton Drive next to Dundee Ice Arena and Cineworld.
The city’s first Nando’s opened in the city centre on the Nethergate in 2012 in the space formerly occupied by Pizza Hut.
The imminent opening near Camperdown Park was revealed by representatives of the business at Dundee City Council’s Licensing Board on Thursday.
The company had already obtained planning permission last autumn.
Ashoka Shak closed several months ago.
Nando’s has been given permission to operate from 11am until 1am and will offer home deliveries, takeaways and dine-in space.
A spokesman said: “We know that there are a lot of peri-peri fans in Dundee and we can’t wait to open our second restaurant in the city in early 2019.”
Elsewhere, the Ambassador bar on Clepington Road was given permission for outside drinking from 12.30pm to 8pm, while new cafe Simpson’s on Exchange Street will now offer on sales alcohol.
Staybridge Apartments, next to Hotel Indigo in Stobswell, was also given both an on and off sales licence.
