UPDATE: Scottish Water say service has been restored to homes in the DD4 area.
However, the firm has said customers may still experience some discoloured water for a period of time.
Residents have been advised to leave a cold tap running until the water is clear.

Around 2,000 homes were said to have been affected and a fault with a valve was identified as the cause.
A Scottish Water spokeswoman said: “Following reports this morning of loss of water supply, low pressure and discoloured water from the DD4 area of Dundee, we identified the issue was a fault with a valve that manages water pressure.
“With approximately 2,000 households affected, engineers were deployed to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. We can confirm supply has now been restored.
“As a result of the interruption to water supply, customers in the area may experience some discoloured water. We advise customers who experience discolouration to allow the cold water tap to run at half pressure until water runs clear.
“We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank the local community for their cooperation, patience and understanding.”
Engineers were sent to investigate the water disruptions reported in the DD4 postcode area – which includes Stobswells, Whitfield, Pitkerro, Craigie, Douglas and Fintry – to solve the problem.
