Plunging temperatures brought dramatic scenes to the local area with the River Tay left blanketed by exceptionally thick fog.
Residents on both sides of the watercourse woke to find their views blocked by a thick band of fog, which formed in the morning and has lingered all afternoon.
Wednesday into Thursday was the coldest night of the winter so far.
Temperatures dropped to -12.9C in Braemar, the lowest recorded in the UK overnight.
Similar fog caused by the low temperatures has been spotted across Fife.
An image captured by the Dundee University satellite receiving station also shows how snow and fog is affecting the whole of the UK.
This one was captured by the Terra-MODIS satellite just after 11am.
The big freeze is due to continue into Friday, with snow expected across Tayside and Fife.
We are still shrouded in fog! Please take care. (1345 31/01/19) pic.twitter.com/fgtC3GdScn
