Dundee’s HMV will not be closed after the chain was spared from administration by Sunrise Records.
The futures of some 1,500 staff have been secured following the acquisition by the Canadian firm, with some 100 stores saved.
However 27 “unprofitable” sites are still being axed including the Glasgow Braehead and Ayr branches, along with the Fopp store on Byres Road.
A total of 455 people are being made redundant as a result of the closures.
Administrator KPMG will retain a further 122 employees at warehouse functions to assist in winding down operations.
Sunrise is owned by Doug Putman, who knocked back competition from the likes of Mike Ashley to purchase the retailer.
