A charity raising money to help sick children has held its second fundraising ball.

The Archie Foundation is collecting £2 million for the NHS Tayside Children’s Hospital Appeal.

The funds will be used to pay for a twin operating suite at the NHS Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells Hospital.

The new suite will transform the experience of having an operation for thousands of children across Tayside and Fife.

The Archie Foundation held a fundraising ball at the Invercarse Hotel, Dundee,  on Friday night, during which local businesses bought raffle tickets to help boost the appeals.

Scott Lorimer, communications manager for the charity, said: “We have local businesses in attendance and they have been very supportive in the past.”

The Archie Foundation was formed in 2000 in Aberdeen to help fund the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital.

The charity started with a simple mission to make a difference for local sick children.

Over the years it has help improve the healthcare of nearly 200,000 children a year through its fundraising.

Last year The Archie Foundation held a ball at the Apex Hotel which raised £200,000 and where an Audi car was the main raffle prize.

This year guests could win a statue of Oor Wullie and the winner was given the chance to design the colour scheme.

A specially designed sign post from the upcoming Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail was also listed as a prize.

The Sign It, Sing It Makaton Choir was invited to perform two songs for the ball’s guests, having proving a hit at the launch of the Oor Wullie BIG Bucket Trail.
