Dundee taxi drivers have urged the council to introduce a temporary one-way system near Slessor Gardens during major events to avoid traffic chaos.
It comes as the city prepares to host concerts by Tom Jones and Craig David this summer, as well as the arrival of Antiques Roadshow crews to film an episode of the show at the V&A museum.
During last year’s big concerts, a large section of Dundee city centre was shut down with diversions in place for drivers.
The restrictions caused congestion in other parts of the city and difficulties for taxi drivers trying to drop off and collect passengers.
Bus routes were also changed temporarily to accommodate the city centre road closures.
Graeme Stephen, chairman of the Dundee Taxi Association, said the group had been holding meetings with Dundee City Council to discuss possible solutions.
He said: “This is an issue with all traffic, not just taxis.
“We thought about having a one-way system and brought it up during one of the liaison meetings we have with the council, but at that stage they didn’t say yes or no.
“They said they would look into it.”

Mr Stephen said drivers recognised the events bring thousands of people to the city centre and wanted them to continue.
He added; “If the council can do something to alleviate traffic that would be even better.
“The biggest problem is that people look at the ‘road closed’ signs and decide it doesn’t apply to them, so they go through and then they have to double back.
“This adds to the congestion and defeats the purpose of having a road closure.”
Graeme said the group was waiting to hear if Dundee City Council was prepared to take up its suggestion of a temporary one-way system.
A Dundee City Council spokesperson said: “Road restrictions which are put in place for the concerts are discussed by a wide range of city partners and take motorist and pedestrian safety into account.”
