A top class musician has returned to Dundee to help mark World Piano Day.
Joseph Fleetwood, who was born in the city, played two Steinway Concert Grand Pianos at the Caird Hall on Friday.
The musician performed Chopin Scherzo No 2 and other classical pieces to the public for one hour.
The free event was organised by Leisure & Culture Dundee.
Kevin McGinley, communications and public relations officer with Leisure & Culture Dundee, said: “It went really well and the audience seemed to enjoy it.
“It was really good turnout and I think they enjoyed having a world class pianist playing for them.
“It was great to have a piano player of that quality playing in the Caird Hall and it was really nice that he is local.”
Mr Fleetwood was one of the first winners of the Dundee Musicians Award in 2008 and was awarded funding to record his first CD in the Caird Hall.
The disc featured several lesser known works by the Norwegian composer and pianist Edvard Grieg.
Since then his musical career has gone from strength to strength.
He has gone on to perform throughout Europe at cities including Vienna, Milan, Naples, London, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Along the way he has worked with outstanding musicians from organisations such as the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the orchestras of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and the Royal College of Music.
The musician was commissioned to compose a short piece of music for Piano Restorations Ltd, which was filmed and made into a TV advert for the company.
The video was posted on Classic FM’s Facebook page and has received more than 590,000 views.
Last year he took part in the A Night To Remember, in London, where he performed in the company of stars of the stage and screen and dignitaries from around the world.
His playing has been broadcast on BBC 1, BBC 2, BBC Radio Scotland, and regional stations throughout the UK.
He is now working on a CD featuring recordings of music by Schubert, Liszt and Beethoven.
In September 2018 he joined the faculty of music at Aberdeen University as a piano teacher.
