A fatal accident inquiry will be held into the death of a prisoner jailed for murdering a young dad with a samurai sword in Dundee.
Alexander Touati was found dead at HMP Castle Huntly open prison in Longforgan in July last year.
He was 47.
The cause of Touati’s death is unknown.
An inquiry has been set for Thursday at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Touati was found guilty of the murder of James Connelly in 2002, shortly after being released from prison where he had been serving a nine-year sentence for raping a student.
Mr Connelly died from massive blood loss after being struck in the back with a replica samurai sword during an argument in Whitfield.
Touati, of Marywell Gardens, Kirriemuir, and Russell Gilfillan, of Fife, were found guilty of murdering Mr Connelly on New Year’s Day in 2002 and jailed for life.
