A Dundee woman has appealed for help to find her recently-adopted dog, which is on the loose in the city’s West End.
Rescue German Shepherd-Collie cross Jess escaped on Sunday while walking with her new owner, Micha Thompson, just two days after being brought to her new home in the city.
The two-year-old pooch was rescued from a cave in Spain, where she had found shelter with her nine puppies.
She slipped out of her collar and bolted on Abbotsford Place after becoming spooked when she was approached by a French bulldog.
Micha, 27, said: “I’m very worried about Jess.
“We only got her on Friday, through Tayside Pets Rehoming. On Sunday I was taking her for a walk and we walked past a garden on Abbotsford Place.
“A little French bulldog crawled out from between the fence and started jumping on her. She got a fright and slipped out of her collar.
“I saw her running towards Clark’s Bakery and up Corso Street. That’s when I lost sight of her.
“There have been lots of sightings since, around the Hawkhill, Blackness Road and Perth Road areas.
“On Monday morning she was found in the Harris Academy playground but ran off again.”
Micha explained Jess is easily frightened and it has been difficult to keep her in one place.
She added: “She had been living in a foster home in Bridge of Allan for around three months after being brought over from Spain.
“She had been a street dog and was found in a cave with nine puppies.
“She’s very street wise and good at hiding and running away. At the moment it seems that she’s very spooked, so is running from everyone.
“It’s upsetting because we were just starting to form a bond and she was starting to trust me, then this happened. I’m hopeful about getting her back though.”
