Staff at a Dundee supermarket have secured individual protein bars into security boxes following a spate of thefts.
Baffled shopper Cameron Terry took a photograph of the odd sight at the retail giant’s store at Kingsway West Retail Park last Friday.
The protein bars, which are aimed at fitness fanatics and range in price from £1.95 to £2.50, have been painstakingly placed into the security boxes across several shelves in the shop.
Anti-theft casings and tags are used to deter thieves in stores across the country, however they are often reserved for the most high-value products on sale.
A spokesman for Tesco said staff had been left with no choice after thieves began targeting the snacks – which are made with additional protein and vitamins.
He added: “We’ve taken action following a number of thefts in store.”
