A call is being made for extra police officers or speed activated signage to slow motorists causing problems on a Dundee road.
Councillor Kevin Cordell is concerned about speeding drivers on Balgillo Road and says residents constantly complain about it.
The problem is made worse as children heading to Barnhill Primary School and Forthill Primary School use the road.
Mr Cordell, a SNP member for Barnhill on Dundee City Council, said: “It is a persistent complaint from house holders unable to exit driveways, to road users being tailgated or unable to exit junctions.
“The road has a lot of traffic at certain times of the day feeding two primary schools and a lot of children crossing the road to get to those schools.
“We have seen the school crossing patroller hit by a car recently and a home on Balgillo Road needing to replace its garden wall at least twice after being hit by a cars.

“Whilst I wouldn’t wish to state speeding is the issue in those instances, it does highlight the need for road safety to be taken seriously.
“Experience shows that – sadly – speeding and poor motorist behaviour is quite common on the road.
“The straight nature of the road seems to encourage excess speeds.
“If surveys confirm the issue, I would be happy to see an extra police presence and perhaps a “pop up” policeman as a reminder. Speed activated signage could also be a possibility.
“Ultimately it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure they are driving with due care and attention to the speed limits.”
He added that the problem was made worse by the city’s buses using the bus stop at nearby Kintail Place.
A Police Scotland spokesman said the force carried out speed checks in the area and added that if Mr Cordell wanted to discuss the issue with the local area commander he could.
A spokesperson for the city council said: “We will review the speed surveys that we have on record and if necessary carry out a more up to date check.
“We will also liaise with our partners in Police Scotland.”
