Young Taysiders looking to work on their pout and pose technique will soon get the chance to work with one of Scotland’s most famous supermodels.
Eunice Olumide MBE will offer up tips and advice on breaking into the industry in the three-day Fashion Camp at V&A Dundee next month.
She will also share her story of working across a wide range of design projects, as an international supermodel, broadcaster and curator.
During the course, Dundee-based fashion design brand Isolated Heroes will also help those attending create their own t-shirt or dress to take home.
The company’s founder Samantha Paton will speak about her route into the fashion industry, using luxury faux furs and sequins to create collections for clients including Miley Cyrus, Paloma Faith and Be Charlotte.
Techniques including design planning, pattern cutting, garment making, machine and hand sewing skills will be taught.
The event is only for those aged 14 to 24 and will see a maximum of 10 people per session.
Tracey Smith, V&A Dundee’s young people and families producer said: “This three-day workshop is all about giving young people who’d like to work in the fashion industry direct access to fashion experts.
“It’s an opportunity for anyone aged between 14 and 24 – from school pupils working on their first portfolio to students or graduates keen to find out more about the fashion industry – to work closely with designers in our studios as part of a small team.
“We’re delighted to be working with Dundee-based fashion design brand Isolated Heroes and Scottish supermodel, actress and curator Eunice Olumide on this unique workshop, co-designed with the museum’s Young People’s Collective.”
Born in Edinburgh, 5 feet 9 inch Olumide was first spotted by model scouts while shopping, aged 15, in Glasgow’s Sauchiehall Street.
In a matter of years she was appearing in magazines throughout the world including Dazed & Confused, London Fashion Week Daily, Harpers Bazaar and InStyle.
She has made a number of cameo appearances in films such as Star Wars Rogue One, The Last Jedi and Absolutely Fabulous.
She has also appeared in a variety of TV shows including John Bishop’s Britain and BBC Learning Zone.
Tickets for the V&A event are priced at £90.
