Travellers had a lucky escape after the landing gear of their plane failed to deploy as they approached Dundee Airport.
The drama began as the Loganair plane, which was supposed to arrive at the HIAL-run airport at 9pm, made its approach to the runway.
Emergency services raced to the airport as the small plane carrying passengers from London Stansted Airport came into land.
A full emergency response was declared at the airport on Riverside Drive with Police Scotland, Tayside Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service sent.
Chris Phin, a special project leader at DC Thomson, was one of the travellers on the plane.
He said: “We were supposed to land around 9pm. As we neared the airport the pilot made an announcement over the Tannoy.
So I’m on the plane from London to Dundee. Run to make the flight then a full scale emergency with landing gear! Full incident response! Well done Loganair pilot and @DNDAirport #staycool #incidentresponse #trained #safelydown pic.twitter.com/DOTa46iFoR

“I couldn’t hear it because of the noise of the engines but I knew that something was wrong.
“Some of the other passengers did hear what the captain said and they told me.
“We had to do loops as they tried to solve the problem. A vehicle was sent out on to the runway to see if the landing gear had come down.

“It had and we came in for a smooth landing. Dundee is a small airport so it was really good to see a full emergency response in action.
“They put pins in the landing gear to stop it from collapsing and towed the plane to the terminal instead of letting it get there under its own power.
“Before this it had just been a routine flight. It hasn’t put me off flying.”
Everything is fine with the @FlyLoganair aircraft that has just landed, crew were seeing an issue on the aircraft and as a precaution the emergency plan was implemented. #SafetyFirst

Following the incident Loganair Tweeted ‘Everything is fine with the @FlyLoganair aircraft that has just landed, crew were seeing an issue on the aircraft and as a precaution the emergency plan was implemented. #SafetyFirst’
The police said they had been at the airport simply as a precaution while the fire service said it had merely been a false alarm.
