An “eyesore” building that Dundee City Council had previously explored taking legal action to clear up has gone on the market.
The derelict office building in Luna Place, Technology Park, has been targeted by vandals numerous times in recent years.
Most of the windows have been smashed and it has been plastered with graffiti.
The office block is in a prominent position and visible from the Riverside Avenue Ambassador Route, a main entrance into Dundee.
A ‘for sale’ billboard has now gone up on the grounds and Fergus McDonald, commercial director at estate agents Westport Porperty, has confirmed it has recently gone on the market.
The latest development has raised hopes the condition of the building will be improved by any new buyer.
It is understood that the current owner lives in Northern Ireland.
The local authority had previously looked into the prospect of lodging legal action to force the owner to tidy the site.
West End councillor Fraser Macpherson has been calling for something to be done to clear up the mess for almost two years.
He had previously stated the building was sending the “wrong message” to people visiting Dundee.
Mr Macpherson hopes the latest development could lead to the area being cleared up.
He said: “Over a protracted period of time I have been trying to ensure action is taken on this matter.
“It is a complete eyesore and many constituents have been in touch to complain about it. It is in a prominent place as you come into Dundee from the Perth route.
“I welcome the news that it is on the market and hopefully this is the first step in it becoming a very usable building again.
“It’s still quite modern so could be used for all manner of purposes.
“The building next to it is empty at the moment as well, but that has been maintained by the owners so is not as much of an eyesore.”
Dundee woman Valerie Duguid had previously expressed her wish to transform the building into a rehabilitation gym.
The so-called Gymology would give people recovering from serious illnesses such as cancer and strokes a place to work out. It would be kitted out for various needs to achieve this.
