A local musician who has performed with some of the biggest stars in the world has been filmed putting on an incredible set at Dundee’s People’s Piano.
As reported in SeeDundee, rock pianist Stan Urban – who is in the city for a show at Clarks on Lindsay Street – couldn’t resist tickling the ivories at Dundee’s new railway station during his visit.
A large crowd stopped to watch as the Dundonian musician sang and played on Thursday morning.
Footage of the incredible moment, filmed by Simon Rankin, shows him getting people passing through the station singing and dancing along to his tunes.
Urban has performed with the likes of including the likes of Gene Vincent, Chuck Berry and Mick Jagger across his five-decade career.
Born and raised in Dundee, Urban is now based in Denmark.
He will play Clarks on Lindsay Street at 7pm.
The Yamaha U3 was installed on the platform level of the station in September 2018 following an incredible crowdfunding appeal spearheaded by locals.
A piano was originally donated to the new station upon its opening in July by Dundonian Dave Patterson, 86, in memory of his wife Jean.
However in late August it was targeted by vandals and damaged to such an extent it had to be removed.
Locals quickly launched a crowdfunder to pay for a new instrument to be put in its place. It raised £4,702 and led the to the new piano being installed ahead of V&A Dundee’s opening weekend.
