Thousands of people packed into Slessor Gardens in Dundee on Saturday to see some of the biggest chart stars of the 1980s perform live. The DunDee 80s event featured China Crisis, Go West, Midge Ure, Hue and Cry and headliners ABC. There was a party atmosphere in Dundee city centre ahead of the concert as fans in fancy dress made their way to the waterfront. It was the second outdoor concert to take place in Slessor Gardens this year, after Sir Tom Jones played a sold-out gig in the venue last month. China Crisis on stage. Promoter Liz Hobbs Groups have brought several big name acts to Dundee since staging the first concert, featuring UB40, in May 2017. Acts including Rita Ora, Little Mix and Simple Minds have all performed on the Slessor Gardens stage. Fans of 80s music were spoiled for choice on Saturday as ska kings Madness were performing in Montrose. Police Scotland said both events had passed off peacefully. However, there were complaints about traffic jams caused by road closures around Slessor Gardens when the gates opened around 3pm. Several drivers complained of being stuck in traffic.
