A kitesurfer had to be rescued by members of Kinghorn RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew after getting into difficulty on Sunday afternoon.
The alarm was raised at 1.09pm after a number of people saw the boarder appear to struggle while drifting eastwards in the strong wind just off Kinghorn.
The six-strong lifeboat crew was on scene less than one minute after launch and managed to recover the kite and the casualty from the water.
The kitesurfer, who was not injured, was dropped off at Pettycur Bay where Kinghorn Coastguard arrived to assist.
It later emerged that the man had been struggling due to a mechanical failure of his hydrofoil board.
