SNP candidate Peter Grant looks on course to hold his Glenrothes seat.
With a high percentage of votes already counted, predictions are the SNP has won comfortably, way ahead of second placed Labour.
Mr Grant said high voter turnout – said to be around 85% in some areas – was an indication of voter motivation and a high level of support for the SNP.

“We’re well ahead in Glenrothes, although the Leven votes have yet to be counted and I’ve no idea what the postal votes are,” he said.
“We don’t have the final turnouts but indications from the polling stations are it’s far better than we had thought.
“We had strategies to maximise our support because the weather wasn’t looking too good.
“To get anywhere near 70% would be extraordinary, especially in the middle of December.
“If that many people have voted in December it tells us they are very, very motivated to do something and exit polls suggest people are motivated to vote SNP.
