NHS Fife was again on hand to save Christmas as part of the health board’s annual festive video.
The now annual tradition, which often showcases the hard work of staff across the region, had been viewed 24,000 times on social media – with 20,000 of those views coming within just 24 hours of its release early this week.
In the video, Santa suffers a minor fracture to his hand after an unfortunate mishap during his Christmas Eve reindeer pep talk.
Santa is then followed as he visits the Minor Injuries Service at Adamson Hospital in Cupar to be seen, whilst in parallel we see an alternate version of events as he instead visits the Accident and Emergency at the Victoria Hospital.
While Santa is assessed, treated and discharged within two hours at Minor Injuries, he has quite a different experience at A&E, where he has to fight off requests for selfies whilst he is waiting to be seen.
Thankfully, Santa managed to return to the North Pole following treatment with a splint on his injured hand and was able to fulfil his Christmas duties on his biggest night of the year.
The video ends with around 250 healthcare staff from across the length and breadth of Fife giving us their best rendition of ‘It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas’ to wish us all seasons greetings.
The video, which was recorded entirely in-house, has quickly become a smash hit since its release on Sunday evening and is the third year running the health board has released a successful festive video.
NHS Fife chairwoman Tricia Marwick, who lent her dulcet tones to the song, explains the reason behind releasing a Christmas video each year.
“Our staff are extremely dedicated and work really hard to make our services as good as they can be for patients across Fife,” she said.
“We like to make the video each year to try and recognise this and that’s why we try to feature staff from across the length and breadth of Fife.
“It’s really great to see how well the video has been received, both by staff and by the public.
“Our staff are a credit to the organisation.”
