A developer is poised to submit a planning application for a major housing development in central Fife.
Glenrothes-based AEL Developments Ltd has announced it will seek permission to build 90 new houses and associated infrastructure on the outskirts of East Wemyss.
If approved, the residential estate would be built on land just south of the A955 and west of Randolph Street, between the village and Coaltown of Wemyss.
A proposal of application notice was submitted to Fife Council on the company’s behalf two days before Christmas by agents JM Planning Services and a full planning application is expected within the next three months.
The public will be given the chance to find out more about the proposal at a drop-in exhibition in East Wemyss on January 28.
It is hoped as many people as possible will take the chance to look at the plans, which will be on display at the Central Hotel, Main Street, from 2pm to 8pm.
The community council and local councillors will also be asked for their views.
A second public consultation will be held once initial comments are collated.
The Coal Authority will also need to be consulted due to the proximity of the former Michael Colliery.
AEL Developments is also behind the plan for 41 new homes at the site of the former Forth Park Hospital in Kirkcaldy, which closed in January 2012.
Some of the existing buildings will be converted into 14 flats, while the main hospital is in the process of being demolished.
