A woman who ended a romantic night out in leg restraints after biting a police officer has been ordered to stay indoors.
Kayleigh McElhinney, 31, was placed on a curfew for 75 nights after a court heard she and her lover caused a £1,000 trail of destruction during a hotel break in Perth.
Depute fiscal Michael Sweeney told Perth Sheriff Court: “The room had been trashed. There was bloodstaining all over the room.
“When her co-accused was arrested, she began to struggle with police. She was shouting and swearing and lashing out.
“Leg restraints were required and she also bit a police officer on the body.
McElhinney and her partner Lindsay Slaven were locked up overnight and the court was told that their relationship had ended after the disastrous break.
The couple both admitted trashing their room at the £60-per-night Mercure Hotel in Perth city centre on March 30.
McElhinney, who admitted police assault, had cuts to her arms and her clothes were covered in blood, while the room was in a state of disarray.
Solicitor David Holmes, for McElhinney, of Oswald Court, Kirkcaldy, said: “She had taken drugs and alcohol to excess and doesn’t really remember what took place.”
Solicitor Lucy McKenna, defending Slaven, 44, of School Street, Markinch, said: “He understands the hotel lost earnings through not having the room available to them.
“He was in quite a volatile relationship with his co-accused. That is now at an end. He has spent time in custody.”
Slaven was jailed for two months at an earlier hearing.
