Two fire crews were called to Kirkcaldy’s Adam Smith Theatre on Tuesday morning after an automatic fire alarm was activated.
Staff with ONFife, Fife’s Cultural Trust, have told The Courier that there was no fire, with the alarm raised just after 11am as a result of a leak in a water tank.
Senior staff were said to be on site on Tuesday afternoon to assess the problems and determine whether any closure might be needed.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said two fire engines from Kirkcaldy had been called to the building to a report of a “water leak in the system”.
The venue is busy this week as the Fife Festival of Music, featuring school children from across the region, got under way on Tuesday morning and will run until February 7.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THE ADAM SMITH THEATRE IS CURRENTLY CLOSED (28.1.2020) DUE TO A WATER LEAKAGE IN THE BUILDING, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE WHILE WE RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
