A 25-year-old man is fighting for his life after being struck by a car in Glenrothes.
He was crossing Formonthills Road when he was hit by a Vauxhall Vectra at around 8.25pm on Thursday.
The man driving the silver car was unhurt.
The pedestrian was rushed to Ninewells Hospital, in Dundee, where medical staff described his condition as critical.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which saw the road closed between Pitcoudie roundabout and Ballingall Drive for several hours as they examined the scene.
They appealed for help from motorists who may have dash-cam footage of the moments before it occurred.
Sergeant Ewan Pearce, of the road policing unit in Glenrothes, said: “Although we have already spoken to a number of people who were in the area and who assisted at the crash last night, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage just before the crash happened.”
Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting reference number 3532 of February 6.
