Noxious gases were released when two cleaning products, one of them bleach, were mixed. Specialist firefighters wearing hazmat suits were drafted in to deal with the drama in Bilsland Path on Saturday evening. Several emergency services vehicles descended on the residential street in the Rimbleton area when the alarm was raised at around 6pm. It is understood the man was checked by medical staff at Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, and later released. A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “We were called at 6.01pm on Saturday to Bilsland Path in Glenrothes. “It appears two cleaning chemicals had been combined and had released some sort of gas. “One male casualty was taken to hospital. “We had two appliances there along with the specialist hazmat team from Edinburgh.”
