The owner of three boats stolen from a Fife fishery has offered a “substantial reward” for information that would lead to their return.
Thieves struck at Upper Carriston Fishery, close to Star in Fife, between Thursday evening and Friday morning, making off with three Coulam boats estimated to be worth around £12,000.
Fishery owner Richard Muszynski, said he has been devastated by the attack and has now offered a “substantial” cash reward for anyone with information that will help catch those responsible or return the stolen boats.
The theft comes just three weeks after a malicious vandalism at the same fishery resulted in another boat being deliberately damaged and sunk.
Angling enthusiast Mr Muszynski, who only purchased the picturesque 20-acre fishery situated on the outskirts of Star of Markinch in August last year, having previously leased the site, said he has reported the theft to police.
“It’s still unclear as to how those responsible have gained access or with what type of vehicle,” said the 62-year-old.
“They were lifted out of the water so we assume the boats were placed on some sort of large vehicle. The police are investigating.”
Since posting a picture of the missing boats on social media in a bid catch the culprits. Mr Muszynski said he has been heartened by messages of support and members of the public reporting possible sightings of the stolen boats
He wrote: “Please share far and wide, as we want to make these too hot to handle. Substantial reward for information leading to the recovery of these boats.”
Inspector Kirk Donnelly from Glenrothes police station, said: “We are currently investigating the theft of three boats from Upper Carriston Fishery, which is believed to have taken place between 5pm on Thursday, February 13 and 3pm on Friday February 14.
“It is highly likely that the crime was planned and the thieves used a vehicle with a trailer.
“I urge anyone who was in the area and witnessed anything suspicious, or anyone with further information, to contact Police on 101, quoting incident 3339 of February 14.
“Alternatively, you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, if you wish to remain anonymous.”
