A busy Fife road has been blocked after a tractor struck a railway bridge and spilled its load of bales.
The farm vehicle was towing the load when it hit the crossing on Hope Street in Inverkeithing on Thursday at about 2.40pm.
Trains passing through the town were ground to a halt on safety grounds due to the incident.
Police were called to the scene after the farm vehicle’s trailer was left on its side with the bales strewn across the road, completely blocking it.
A police spokeswoman said: “We were called at about 2.40pm this afternoon to a report of a tractor that struck a bridge on Hope Street.
“The road is currently blocked. It had a trailer attached. Officers are at the scene just now.”
ScotRail said the crash has had a knock-on effect on services between Inverkeithing and North Queensferry.
Trains were unable to pass across the bridge for several hours, with journeys between Edinburgh and Aberdeen cancelled.
UPDATE: The engineer has confirmed that there's no damage to the bridge, so the line has reopened. We're working to get services back on the move ASAP. ^Angus

Engineers were called to the scene to inspect the bridge.
At about 3.30pm the crossing was reopened after it was confirmed there was no damage to the structure.
An earlier ScotRail statement reads: “Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge between Inverkeithing and North Queensferry the line is closed.
“Disruption is expected until 5pm. Train services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen will be cancelled, delayed or revised.”
