Three people – including a police officer – who were injured in separate accidents on the A92 in Fife earlier this week are expected to make full recoveries.
Police Scotland is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the most serious of the incidents which took place at around 1.40pm on Thursday afternoon, when a police 4×4 responding to a breakdown between Cowdenbeath and Crossgates was struck by a HGV car transporter lorry travelling westbound.
The police officer was airlifted to hospital for treatment for what were described as serious injuries. A subsequent update revealed the officer had been assessed and had not suffered life-threatening injuries but remained in hospital for observations overnight on Thursday.
An appeal for witnesses was issued by Police Scotland.
A similar appeal for information on a crash which took place on the same route at around 3pm on Thursday, between the Kilmany and Five Road Roundabout, has also been made.
A 43-year-old woman was taken to Ninewells Hospital with back and neck injuries after a Mini and a Nissan collided, having been forced to take evasive action due to other road users.
Sergeant Paul Hunter, from Cupar Police Station, said: “We are eager to trace the driver of a silver or grey Mercedes car, which is possibly a newer shape and the registration may contain the letters VDR or similar, to help with our investigation into the crash.
“We are also appealing for any dash-cam footage of the incident or of the Mercedes car both before and after the crash or any other information that will help with our enquiries.”
Meanwhile, a 55-year-old man who suffered leg injuries in a crash on the A92 eastbound, between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly on Wednesday, is also making good progress.
The man was taken to Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital following the incident at around 2.50pm, when four lorries were involved in a crash – again after the behaviour of other road users.
Sergeant Nicola Young, of the Fife Road Policing Unit, said: “We are eager to trace the driver of a white Mercedes Sprinter van which was travelling in an eastbound direction at the time of the crash to help with our investigation into the full circumstances of what happened.
“We are also appealing for any dash-cam footage of the incident or the white Mercedes van.”
