Fife Sports and Leisure Trust has announced it is closing all of its centres because of the coronavirus outbreak.
Swimming pools and sports facilities run by the trust across the region will close at 6pm on Wednesday.
The trust said it was following the UK Government’s protocols in relation to containing the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
All facilities managed by the trust on behalf of Fife Council will remain closed until the Government gives the green light to reopen them.
Jeph Hamilton, interim chief executive for Fife Sports and Leisure Trust, said: “To slow the spread of Covid-19 (coronavirus) the general public are being advised to stay at home as much as possible and avoid unnecessary social contact.
“The health and safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have taken the difficult decision to close all our facilities to the public temporarily and will continually monitor the advice from Government so that we are in a good position to re-open as quickly as possible when appropriate.”
The trust said it would be in touch with leisure pass members and those taking part in the Learn to Swim programme.
A spokeswoman for the trust said all membership and swimming class fees would be frozen.
Customers are being encouraged to visit the trust website, fifeleisure.org.uk, and check social media for updates.
Meanwhile, the Kino Cinema announced it had closed both its Glenrothes and Leven venues.
The Kino said on Facebook: “It is with an enormous sense of deep regret that we have to announce the cinema will close on Tuesday March 17 as a result of the coronavirus.
“This decision has not been taken lightly and is a precaution to help protect the health and safety of our customers and staff.
“Customers who have tickets booked for any performances between now and the beginning of April will be contacted soon to arrange a refund or, if possible, a transfer of your booking to a future date.
“We would like to thank all our amazing customers for their support, particularly over the past few days, which have been the darkest and most difficult days of our 10 years of running cinemas.
“We would also like to thank our staff who have been extraordinarily supportive and understanding over this whole sorry situation.
“We would also like to make clear, this is a temporary closure, to allow the coronavirus situation to pass. We will be back! We just don’t know when we’ll be back at the moment.”
