Owners of a popular Fife play centre have said they are “absolutely devastated” by the need to close the facility amid concerns about coronavirus.
Little World of Play, on the Cuddyhouse Road near Cowdenbeath, is a scaled down version of any typical town, providing a safe fun place for young children to explore the world of imagination and role play.
However, Jen and Pete Rippin, who have seen the centre go from strength to strength since opening three years ago, have confirmed they have had to temporarily close until further notice in a statement on their Facebook page.
“We’ve been following the global health crisis updates very closely and it’s with a heavy heart that we feel we have to close our much loved Little World of Play with immediate effect,” they said.
“We thought we might remain open as long as schools and nurseries did, but we don’t believe this is the right thing to do.
“As a small family run business we’re absolutely devastated by this step, especially for our staff, but we believe it’s necessary to help stop the spread of the virus and to try and keep everyone as safe as possible.
“It’s going to be a difficult and strange few months, but we can all get through it by being kind and helping each other.
“We will be contacting all those that have parties or bookings in place for March and April over the next few days, please bear with us as this will take some time.
“Take care everyone and thanks so much for all your support…we really hope we’ll be able to welcome you all back to play soon.”
Meanwhile, a number of other play facilities have also been forced to close their doors.
Bongos in Glenrothes has closed with immediate effect due to the coronavirus outbreak, as has Scampers soft play in Dunfermline.
