Masterchef winner Jamie Scott has said he is “devastated” at having to close his beloved restaurant in Fife for the foreseeable future amid concerns about the spread of coronavirus.
The Newport Restaurant, run by Jamie Scott and partner Kelly, will see its final services this weekend, with the restaurant closing until further notice on Monday.
“This is not an easy decision for us and everyone will know how personal this is to both myself and Kelly,” Jamie said.
“To say we are devastated is an understatement.
“We hope to be able to rebuild Newport in the future and will do all we can to do so.
“We would especially like to thank our staff who have been so very loyal to us over the years and supported us no end.
“They are very much our family in this and we would not be where we are now without each of them. These guys are the back bone behind Newport, they mean the world to us and are the hardest to let go during this time.
“As always your custom and support has always been and is appreciated greatly.
“We have more friends than customers these days and that is down to your constant custom and support.
“The acts of kindness, generosity, ideas and so much more have kept us sane during this these last few days.”
