All of Fife’s recycling centres have been closed with immediate effect and will remain closed for at least the next three days.
Fife Council operates 11 household recycling centres across the region which also take commercial waste, but the latest guidance from the Scottish Government on social distancing has prompted their closure for the time being.
The decision applies to all recycling centres, at Cowdenbeath, Cupar, Dalgety Bay, Dunfermline, Glenrothes, Kirkcaldy, Ladybank, Lochgelly, Methil, Pittenweem and St Andrews.
A spokesperson said: “Given the ongoing situation and impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), this information will be updated with further advice on disposal of household waste when available.
“We thank you for your co-operation and understanding.”
It is understood that bin collections are continuing, but bulky waste uplifts have been suspended until further notice.
