The St Andrews Old Course Hotel has closed its doors with immediate effect.
Bosses said the hotel, the Kohler Waters Spa, Dukes golf course and golf academy, and all fitness, retail and restaurant facilities had all been shut to limit the spread of coronavirus.
Guests with future reservations are being told their bookings have been cancelled and full refunds will be provided.
A spokesperson for the Kohler Group, which runs the hotel, said: “Kohler has faced many crises in 146 years, and we are attacking this challenge with the perseverance, ingenuity and resolve that has defined us as a company.
“We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, and we are very appreciative of your patience, understanding and support.”
It follows the announcement yesterday that two more of Scotland’s leading hotels, Gleneagles and the Crieff Hydro were shutting.
