Fifers have been urged to consider the efforts of council staff in coping with the coronavirus crisis when posting on social media.
Local authority chiefs said employees were working hard to provide critical services, despite widespread disruption.
Co-leader and Labour councillor David Ross said council employees were seeing to it that the children of key workers are being looked after, pupils are being taught remotely, essential waste services are being delivered and the most vulnerable people are being supported.
He said: “When people are working so hard to meet pressing needs, please be aware of what you’re posting on social media and be kind.
“Local government staff who are out delivering essential services at this time deserve our support and respect more than ever.”
His SNP co-leader David Alexander said many people had redeployed to roles where they were most needed.
He said: “I’m so proud of everyone involved in this team effort, keeping essential services going, under these exceptional circumstances.
“Many people are working from home and many are working on the front line supporting vulnerable families, communities and voluntary efforts to help us through this crisis.”
