NHS Fife has placed further restrictions on the maternity unit at Kirkcaldy’s Victoria Hospital
Only mums to be are to attend maternity assessment appointments, and partners will not be able to remain with a woman if she has to be cared for outwith a single room due to a clinical condition.
A spokesperson said: “We will attempt to accommodate these women within a single room as quickly as is safe for their care, at that point a non COVID-19 symptomatic partner could attend and remain with them.”
A number of new rules were brought in last week to limit partners’ access to scans and other appointments, but the health board has now gone further after receiving new national directives.
Women have been reminded to continue to attend the midwife or hospital for planned appointments unless otherwise stated. They should also continue to contact their midwife or hospital if they have any concerns regarding their pregnancy.
