A person in the water off Kirkcaldy was one of two rescued on Sunday.
Coastguard teams from Leven and Kinghorn and Kinghorn RNLI were dispatched to the scene at around 5pm.
One person was pulled from the water and returned to shore by the lifeboat while a second casualty was found further along the coast.

"Casualty one was safely handed over to the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service while coastguards and paramedics went to treat casualty two further along the coast."
Both people were later said to be in safe hands.
