A man seriously hurt after being struck by a car in Fife has died in hospital, police have confirmed.
The 36-year-old suffered what were described as “very serious” injuries in the collision near Inverkeithing on Monday night.
He lost his fight for life the following day.
The man, who has not been named, had been walking on the A921, close to the roundabout junction with the B981 when he was struck by a Suzuki Celerio at around 10.20pm.
While the 63-year-old driver was not injured, the pedestrian was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment for what officers said at the time were potentially life-changing injuries.
A full investigation into the circumstances of the accident was launched immediately and police are still appealing for witnesses, or anyone with any other information – including dashcam footage, to come forward.
Sergeant Alastair Purvis of the road policing unit in Glenrothes said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.
“Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and I would urge anyone who may have information or dashcam footage who has not yet spoken to police to make contact.
