A teenager is lucky to be alive after being pulled to safety by emergency crews late last night after being trapped to his waist in mud at a Fife beauty spot.
Fire crews, police, paramedics and two specialist water rescue teams were scrambled at around 9.30pm yesterday evening (Wednesday) following reports of a member of the public trapped in mud at Lochore Meadows Country Park.
It’s understood a cyclist discovered the stranded teenager after hearing his calls for help.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, siad: “We were alerted at 9.29pm on Wednesday, April 22 to reports of an individual trapped to his waist in mud at Lochore Meadows.
“Two crews from nearby Lochgelly Fire Station as well as specialist water rescue teams from Glenrothes and Perth were despatched to the scene.
“A 14-year-old male was eventually brought to safety by the water team using a rescue path to release him.
“He was then assessed by paramedics at the scene.
“The rescue operation was concluded at 10.58pm and crews left the scene at 11.32pm”
