Grey’s Anatomy and Trainspotting star Kevin McKidd has praised new medics who graduated early to help the Covid-19 fight in Fife and beyond.
The Scots actor thanked young doctors stepping up in Fife and across Scotland to help those struck down by the virus.
McKidd, who plays Dr Owen Hunt in the American hit medical drama series, sent his video message of gratitude to NHS Fife and other health authorities.

More than 30 medical school graduates joined Fife’s hospital workforce last week.
They finished final year exams early and their registrations were accelerated to allow them to take up roles in Fife’s hospitals around 10 weeks early.
McKidd told them he wanted to say “congratulations and thank you, thank you, thank you” to young doctors who had “stepped in and started their medical careers as junior doctors in Lothian, Fife, Borders and the rest of Scotland”.
He said: “Thank you for your service, thank you for your dedication, thank you for taking this risk, thank you for stepping in to your careers early, it’s amazing what you are doing.”
The Elgin-born actor voiced his gratitude to staff across the NHS in his message on social media which was shared by NHS Fife.
Guidance from the General Medical Council allowed the new medics in Fife to start early to bolster frontline healthcare services.
The graduates began work last Wednesday, having completed six years of medical training, and will be mentored by experienced clinicians during their first few months at Victoria Hospital, in Kirkcaldy, and Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
As they arrived, NHS Fife director of medical education Professor Morwenna Wood said: “The new medical graduates beginning their careers in Fife today will be applying the skills and knowledge they have garnered over a number of years of training, and are very well equipped to support the local efforts to tackle Covid-19.”
