Two Fife girls who went missing after boarding a train to Edinburgh have been found safe and well.
An appeal was launched after Caitlin Macdonald, 14, and Sophie Davies, 9, went missing from their home in Dalgety Bay on Tuesday.
They boarded an Edinburgh-bound train together in Aberdour and were seen leaving Waverley Station in the direction of Market Street around lunchtime.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “We can confirm that Caitlin Macdonald, 14, and Sophie Davies, 9, who had been reported missing from Fife have been traced safe and well.
“Thank you to everyone who shared or otherwise assisted with our earlier appeal.”
