Fife’s provost Jim Leishman has paid tribute to those who made sacrifices during the Second World War.
Ahead of a series of virtual services to mark VE Day Jim Leishman spoke of the courage and determination of those at home and abroad through the dark days of war.
He said: “While the celebrations will now be different to those that were planned due to the coronavirus restrictions, I hope Fifers will join me in taking the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made at that time, and celebrate the peace that arrived that day 75 years ago.”
Remembrance services and a virtual tribute concert will be broadcast on Facebook at 11am, when a two minute silence will be observed, and 12pm on Friday.
