A man has been arrested after armed police swooped following reports of an individual seen brandishing a suspected firearm in a Fife street.
The incident took place in Dunnikier Road in Kirkcaldy at around 6pm yesterday evening (Sunday).
Officers carried out search of the area and the surrounding streets and a 24-year-old male was later arrested at a property in Tiree Place a short time later.
It’s understood the man has not been charged at this time but remains in custody as officers continue to investigate the incident.
A Spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 6pm on Sunday, May 17, police received a report of a man believed to be in possession of a firearm in Dunnikier Road, Kirkcaldy.
“Police searched the area and a 24-year-old man was arrested at Tiree Place, Kirkcaldy.
“The man is currently in police custody pending further enquires.”
