Police are continuing to investigate after a baby boy became critically unwell in Glenrothes.
The 10-week-old infant was taken to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy on June 5 and later transferred to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh.
Police Scotland said last week that officers responded to a report of concern for the child. Officers were stationed outside the home in Glenrothes for a week after the alarm was raised.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said on Monday: “Around 8.45am on Friday, June 5, 2020, a 10-week-old baby boy became unwell within his home in Glenrothes.
“He was initially taken to Victoria Hospital but was transferred a short time later to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children where he is currently being treated.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
The little boy’s grandmother posted a photograph of the youngster in his hospital bed on social media and thanked medical staff during what she described as a “horrendous” time.
She said: “I would like to thank the nurses and staff at Victoria Hospital and now the Sick Kids Edinburgh for the fantastic care they are giving.”
She said the boy had fantastic parents and added: “We will get our wee man home.”
