Residents ‘horrified’ as vandal targets sports car and buildings in Glenrothes spree

Vandals have caused havoc in a quiet residential street in Glenrothes by spray painting graffiti on a number of vehicles and buildings.

The damage is thought to have happened some time in the early hours of Thursday  in Kintail Court where three cars, including a Mitsubishi FTO sports car, were targeted.

All three vehicles were sprayed across the bonnets, doors and windscreens with the letters ESR.

Vehicles, buildings and a bus shelter were targeted in this latest attack.

The damage is similar to graffiti which appeared across buildings, shops and other business premises in Glenrothes town centre in May, sparking fears the same individual is to blame.

The graffiti is similar to that which appeared on numerous town centre buildings in Glenrothes last month.

Last month CCTV captured a hooded male vandalising shop signs with the letters ESR in the town centre attack.

One of the victims of the latest attack, who asked not to be named, said he was horrified when a neighbour alerted him to the damage.

The ESR Vandal strikes again in Glenrothes.

His car had the letters ESR daubed across it with pink spray paint.

He said: “I was woken by a neighbour whose own vehicle had also been vandalised and couldn’t believe it when I saw what they had done to my car.

“It’s just senseless vandalism.

“This is a normally a very quiet street so this random attack has worried a lot of folk, everyone is horrified by it.”

The car owner said he heard footsteps on a nearby path around 5am.

“It woke me up but I didn’t suspect anything so went back to bed.

“Sadly the CCTV that I have has not captured those responsible this time which is hugely frustrating.”

All of the cars have since been cleaned up but graffiti can still be seen on a number of nearby buildings. Police officers have spoken to residents.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said an incident had been reported, adding: “As always, we would encourage anyone with concerns around vandalism or antisocial behaviour to report these on 101.”
